Our vision is to provide a collaborative community that captures the magic of innovative teaching and learning to enable all students to grow inquisitively and responsibly as successful life-long learners. Our children learn in a warm and caring environment.

Our mission is to provide a comprehensive and rigorous full inclusion academic program supported by committed teachers, staff, teacher interns, devoted parents, and a strong community collaboratively working and learning together.

Children are the heart and soul of the Mason. We are proud of the diversity, strengths, and accomplishments of our student body and staff. Our students consistently score well above the majority of elementary students in the Boston Public Schools (BPS). Our dedicated teachers care about each child and believe strongly that all children achieve success in an environment where there are high expectations, academic rigor and a student-centered approach to learning. In the spring of 1998, Boston Magazine aptly described the school as an oasis in the heart of the city and equated the education that Mason children receive to that provided in private schools.

Our school is a leader in educational reform. Nationally, we have been recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. Statewide, we were one of 14 schools selected as a Compass Exemplary School by the Massachusetts Department of Education in 2001. Within the BPS, we have been designated as one of 26 Effective Practice schools. In April 2003, we were identified as a Vanguard School due to our remarkable achievement in mathematics.

An important part of our school and educational community is our School Parent Council and the cooperation and involvement of parents in their children’s education, in school activities, and as volunteers. We welcome and encourage all parents to visit the school and become involved in our numerous activities for students and their families.
